Eagle Pass Mission Teams Return

“And the king will say to them in reply, ‘Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me’”
~Matthew 25:40

Over the last few weeks, 31 SJV volunteers participated in 2 mission trips to Eagle Pass, Texas (on the border of Mexico). Both Mission Teams worked hard and completed repairs on a total of 9 homes for the elderly, disabled, and very poor.
Additionally, our mission teams completed work on the new home that they built with the Alvarez family. Their home was destroyed by a wind shear and they have been living in a dilapidated trailer. On this trip, the team installed cabinets, sinks, toilets, a water heater, and doors. When the work was completed, Fr. Gerry Kelly, the spiritual leader for our missions, blessed the home and our team celebrated with the family.
The Mission Teams also continue to maintain relationships with the homebound whom we have assisted in the past. Missioners visited over 30 families, brought them nutritious food, and prayed with them. We also worshiped with the families we helped at the local parish, Our Lady of Perpetual Help, where parishioners treated our missionaries to some home-cooked Mexican food.
Congratulations to both of our Mission Teams! We thank you for all of your hard work and generosity of spirit.
