Welcome to the virtual home for our High School Youth Formation. Here at St. John Vianney we are committed to providing our teens with dynamic opportunities to encounter Christ and become active members of His Church. To Live out their faith, change their lives and others, and to truly make a difference in their homes and schools.
We do this in various ways, through our ongoing CCE (Continuing Catholic Education) programs, sacrament preparation, service opportunities, Encounter (our weekly youth night), retreats, conferences, mission trips, teen leadership programs, and much more. Throughout the year there is always something to do and get involved in.
Our hope is that the teens in our community know they have a place here and within Christ. That they take that knowledge, and come to know, love, and live out their faith. That being a Catholic is special, and worth it.
For our ongoing High School CCE program, we use The Catholic Faith Handbook from St. Mary’s Press. We focus on helping the teens of course learn about the details of their Catholic faith, but also, fining practical everyday instances where it comes up and relates to their current culture. The overall goal to strengthen their Catholic Identity as well as inspire them to be active members in the Church, the Body of Christ. To do this, we place a lot of emphasis on prayer, knowledge of the faith, as well as being an active part of the community found in Christ.
Our main session for High School Formation is on Sunday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm. Most weeks we start in large group where the teens gather for snacks, social time, a game, and a joint message. Afterwards they break into their grade specific small groups and classrooms to break open our faith. During this session, we also hold a night of prayer with the teens in front of the Blessed Sacrament twice a semester.
We also have a few additional sessions four our teens who cannot make Sunday evening, Sundays at 11am & 12:30pm as well as Mondays at 6:00pm. These sessions are more traditional, with a solely classroom format lasting 1 hour.
If interested in registration for our High School Religious Education program or for questions contact Kristin Wegenka.
All High School teens are encouraged to join us on Wednesday evenings. We spend time in fellowship, as well as get down to the nitty gritty of some of our faith’s hot button issues. Giving teens a safe place to ask questions and get honest answers about our faith. We always start with snacks as well as some sort of social time. Depending on the topic discussed, we end the evening in various forms of prayer.
All high school teens are welcome, so bring a friend…or two!
