Because you are never too young to follow Jesus, we have set up a Junior High Ministry that brings God to life in the midst of fun, meaningful activities and events. It is more than about just getting together and having fun. By meeting other teens who see God as an important part of their lives, we will form a community that will be there to support us, help us and encourage us in our journey! To accomplish these goals, St. John Vianney has set up various programs directed toward our Junior High youth.
In our Junior High CCE program, The Catholic Connections Handbook from St. Mary’s Press focuses on fostering the faith of young adolescents by helping them to make connections between our Catholic faith and everyday life. Catholic Connections aims to strengthen the participants’ Catholic identity and inspire them to participate more fully in the Church Community and in the Church’s mission. Our Junior High CCE program places special emphasis on prayer, faith knowledge, and communal life in Christ.
Our main session for Junior High Formation is on Sunday evenings from 6:30-8pm. This session has an extra half hour at the end where all classes come together as a community for a time of learning, fun and games, and prayer. Junior High youth love this session because of the time spent in community with their peers at the end of every night.
Additional sessions for Junior High Formation are held on Sundays at 9:30am, 11am, 12:30pm, and on Monday evenings at 6pm. These sessions are a more traditional 1 hour classrooms format and do not have the community half-hour at the end.
