Our award-winning mentoring program, over 600 mentors strong and growing, serves students on over twenty-nine campuses across our school district. The program, beginning its tenth year, brings caring adult role models into our schools to spend 30 – 45 minutes once a week as a role model, confidant, advocate and friend to a student “on the brink of success.”
We ask mentors to commit to a school year timeframe, and over 90% of our mentors return to our program each year, following their student as they grow through the grade levels. Students self-select for the program, and parents grant permission for them to participate. Targeted students are those in need of extra support to help them become self-reliant, self-confident youngsters. Our data indicates that 95% of students with a mentor see themselves as more focused on school and they are more happy, well adjusted and skilled socially and emotionally.
St. John Vianney partners with two of the SBISD campuses: Nottingham Elementary and Northbrook Middle School.
Once these three things are completed, we will forward your information to the Campus Mentor Coordinator at the school of your choice to begin the matching process to connect you with a student who will truly benefit from having a relationship with a caring adult like you.
Thank you for your time and interest, and we hope to hear from you soon!
