October 1st:

“Laudato Si”

Fr. Nathaniel Haslam will mine the richness, caution and challenge in Pope Francis’ recent encyclical. Derived from the Greek word for “circle”, an encyclical is among the Church’s most authoritative teaching documents. But our Pope has set his sights far beyond the circle of the Church. This encyclical, he states, is addressed to “every person living on this planet.” “Laudato Si” is the first encyclical to focus primarily on creation care and the Pope also cautions against the “worshipping of earthly powers,” noting that humans have usurped the role of God, imposing their own laws and interests on reality with little thought to the long-term consequences.

Presented by: Fr. Nathaniel Haslam, LC, born in Harrisburg, PA. He entered the novitiate of the Legionaries of Christ in Sept.1999 in Cheshire, Connecticut and spent his two year novitiate in Dublin, Ireland. Fr. Nathaniel continued his studies in New York and the Pontifical Regina Apostolorum College in Rome, Italy. He was ordained in Dec. 2010 and moved to Texas the following summer.
