Sometimes It’s OK to Listen—the sub title of David Capes’ recent book, Slow to Judge. In it he says that sometimes we prejudge a person based on our biases and superficial experience. In doing so we risk stifling dialog before the conversation even begins. It is possible to articulate and defend our faith in Jesus clearly and effectively, while at the same time not being judgmental. When we suspend judgment and truly listen, we will find that we may be given a chance to speak and be heard.
Presented by: David B. Capes, Ph.D., a noted Pauline scholar and author and editor of several books, including The Voice of Hebrews, Rediscovering Paul and Thriving in Babylon. David last visited our parish in 2010 when he appeared with the co-hosts of the popular radio call-in program (Sunday evenings on 1070 KNTH), “A Show of Faith”. The program brings together a rabbi, a protestant minister and a Catholic priest who discuss current events and other issues of the day from their unique faith perspectives.
