SACRAMENTS

Sacrament of Baptism- Celebrated communally on the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Sundays of the month in English, and on the 4th Sunday of the month in spanish. Parents requesting Baptism are asked to call to enroll in the pre-baptism class (in English: 281-497-1500; in Spanish: 281-497-4434), to schedule the baptism, and to register in the parish (if not already registered). It is recommended that pre-baptism classes be completed during pregnancy. Catholic parental preparation also requires active participation in parish worship (attending Mass weekly), as well as the class. Godparents are strongly urged to attend the classes, also. Godparent(s) - only one is required - must be practicing Catholic(s) at least 16 years of age, have receive the 3 sacraments of initiation: Baptism, Eucharist and Confirmation, and in a Catholic marriage, if married. Sacrament of Reconciliation (Confession)- Saturdays from 4:00pm - 5:00pm in the Church. Before Easter and Christmas, additional times are available. Check the bulletin for times and dates.

First Reconciliation and Eucharist- A child who has reached the age of reason (7 years old) and is in second grade is eligible for preparation for First Reconciliation and Eucharist. This begins with a mandatory informational meeting for parent and child. At this time, parents enroll their child and receive materials for home preparation. First Reconciliation meetings begin in the Fall. First Eucharist meetings begin in January. Parents are the primary educators and are expeced to prepare thier child at home. In addition, all candidates must be enrolled in our parish CCE program or attend a Catholic school, and present proof of baptism.

Confirmation:


High School Students - Students in the 11th and 12th grade may be eligible for preparation for the Sacrament of Confirmation. The student must have at least two years of relgious education, either in our parish high school CCE program or in a Catholic high school. Adults- Confirmation preparation for adults is coordianted through our Adult Education office. Please contact Marguerite Campos at 281-584-2028 for more information.

Preparation for the Sacrament of Marriage- Couples should contact the parish at least nine (9) months prior to the proposed wedding date. Engaged couples are asked to attend 2 information meetings held on the 1st and 2nd Wednesdays of the month at 7:00pm. Please call the Family Life Office at 281-584-2022 to register. At the first meeting, the couple will receive a packet with information and guidelines regarding photography, florists, etc. Also, detailed information is provided about the options for sacramental preparation. Most couples will choose between the Sponsor Couple program (where they meet with a trained married couple in thier home, usually 5 times) or the Engaged Encounter retreat weekend (for retreat dates and availability, please call 713-741-8706). Anointing of the Sick- The Sacrament is given regularly at the 9:00am Mass on the last Friday of the month. If someone is seriously ill and needs a priest, please call the Parish Office day or night. If someone is homebound and would like to receive the Eurcharist, please call the Parish Office.
