This is the House that SJV Built!

SJV’s Golden Jubilee Habitat for Humanity house was completed last week and dedicated on January 21st.
The homeowners, Mr. and Mrs. Estrada and their two daughters, Habitat for Humanity staff, and the SJV Habitat Team of volunteers gathered together at the home for a dedication ceremony, tour of the home, and a celebratory brunch together.  Deacon Al Vacek blessed and dedicated the home while SJV staff presented the family with a crucifix and framed photo of our church (signed by our volunteers) for their new home.
The Estrada family is thrilled with their new home!  The whole family worked side-by-side with our SJV volunteers to build their home from beginning to end.  To prepare them to be 1st time homeowners, the Estradas completed 20 hours of homeowner training classes and put in over 100 hours of “sweat equity” building homes for other Habitat families, plus over 100 hours on their own home. They are extremely grateful to our parish, Habitat for Humanity, and to God for giving them this opportunity to own their own home and live in a safe community.
SJV provided the funding and the volunteers to build the Habitat home.   From just a concrete slab in July 2016, SJV volunteers worked for 10 Saturdays over about 7 months to complete the three-bedroom home for the Estrada family.  We’d like to thank all of the many volunteers who made this possible including the Young Adults, High School Youth, Choir, Men’s ACTS, and St. Anne’s Society. By the end of the build, over 200 SJV volunteers contributed more than 1,300 hours of labor to the home.
We’d also like to thank our parishioners who prayed for this project as well as those parish families who provided and served lunch for all of the Habitat volunteers.  Finally, a very special thank you to Build Site Leader (Red Hat), Tom Frazee, and our SJV Habitat Team Leader, Miguel Rivera, who coordinated our volunteers and faithfully led our efforts.
We are thankful to Our Lord for all of the blessings that He has bestowed upon us throughout our 50 years as a parish, and we give all glory to Him for making this Habitat Jubilee House and service to our neighbors possible.
