How long have you been a member of St John Vianney Catholic Church? I’ve been a member for 23 years, since August 1991 to the present.
What is your family’s background? Where are you from originally? We are a close-knit Catholic family which is originally from Manila, Philippines.
How do you live your Catholic Faith? I live my faith by practicing what I preach. I used to teach religion when I was an elementary school teacher in a boy’s Catholic school in Manila.
How has your involvement at the Parish impacted/changed your life? Through my involvement at SJV, I became more compassionate, friendlier and dedicated to the needs of the parish.
How do you make a difference? What programs or activities are/were you involved in? Choir member since August, 1994. Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion at 11:00 am Sunday Mass since May, 1997. Joseph’s Coat volunteer on the 4th Saturday of each month for 13 years up to the present.
What is special about SJV? Do you have a special memory/anecdote you would like to share? A very special memory for me is the choir pilgrimage to Rome, Vatican City, Assisi, Ars, French Riviera, and Paris in 1996. Pope John Paul II took my hand in his and said: “God loves you, God bless you.” I cried with joy.
What do you tell your friends & family about SJV? I say that SJV is such an amazing parish which helps the community, no matter who you are, especially those in need.
What would you say to someone new who wants to get more involved in the church? Being a member of the various ministries we have in the parish can impact his/her life forever.
