Service Opportunities

By our baptism, we are called to action!  Join us in our mission to act on Catholic Social Teaching and our commitment to the Corporal Works of Mercy by providing a compassionate response to individuals and families in need of assistance. Even if you are not sure what to volunteer for, we encourage you to complete our Volunteer Application Form, and submit it to Glorivel, 281.497.1500.

If you are a teen and you need service hours, please complete our Community Service Form and submit it to Glorivel with as much advanced notice as possible. This way we will be able to accommodate your need for service hours. In order to volunteer in our ministries without an adult accompanying you, you must be 14 years of age or older. To participate in Habitat for Humanity, you must be 16 years of age or older.

For service opportunities during the summer, please contact us 1 to 2 months ahead of time, as our volunteering opportunities fill up quickly during that time of the year.

Safe Environment Training & Background Check – For all our volunteers:

The CMG Safe Haven online training replaced the VIRTUS training for staff and volunteers. The training consists of 3 vignette-style training videos that add up to approximately 60 minutes and will include a criminal background check that must be completed.

All new employees and volunteers
are required to complete the Safe Haven online training program instead of VIRTUS Protecting God’s Children training.
For new volunteers, all individuals must complete the training and complete a background check prior to the start of volunteer service.
The 5-year anniversary date is still in place. Individuals who recently attended VIRTUS will not be due to complete refresher trainings until they have met their 5-year anniversary date.
As the 5-year anniversary date is met, individuals will need to log into CMGConnect with their previous personal VIRTUS user id and 1234 as the password. Once each individual logs into his/her CMGConnect account, he/she will be able to change his/her password.
If you do not remember your user id, contact Lee Clark (SJV’s Safe Environment Coordinator) at 281.497.6665 or CMG.

The following individuals are now required to complete Safe Haven online training as well:
1. Individuals who have never attended a training.
2. Individuals who are currently due for refresher training and have not attended a VIRTUS training.
3. Individuals who are currently due and have not attended a VIRTUS training.
4. Individuals who are out of compliance or past due.

This is now a requirement for all our volunteers. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact our offices at 281.497.4434.
