January 22nd, 2019 marks the 46th anniversary of the Roe v. Wade Supreme Court decision which legalized abortion throughout all months of pregnancy in the United States. In the wake of Roe, legal abortion in our nation has claimed the lives of more than 58 million unborn children.
On January 19th Respect Life volunteers will erect white crosses outside the entrance to SJV to commemorate the lives of the children lost since abortion was legalized in 1973. The crosses will remind us throughout the week to pray for the end of abortion and for a greater respect for all human life. We invite you to join us as the crosses are blessed and we pray for a full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life.
A Rosary will be conducted by the Knights of Columbus on the lawn near the front entrance driveway following the blessing. (Please do not park along the driveway as we do not want to block the flow of traffic. Ample parking will be available in the nearby North parking lot.)
“I do not hesitate to proclaim before you and before the world that all human life – from the moment of conception and through all subsequent stages – is sacred, because human life is created in the image and likeness of God. Nothing surpasses the greatness or dignity of a human person. All human beings ought to value every person for his or her uniqueness as a creature of God, called to be a brother or sister of Christ…”
~ St. John Paul II.
