Eagle Pass Mission Teams Return

Over the last 2 weeks, 33 SJV Volunteers participated in 2 mission trips to Eagle Pass, Texas (on the border of Mexico).  Both Mission Teams completed a great deal of work.  They repaired a total of 7 homes.  They re-roofed the house of a widow taking care of an elderly parent.  For a disabled mother with a mentally handicapped child, they put railing around their deck making it much safer for them to go outside. They installed new doors and windows for an elderly couple.
Missioners also continued work on building a new home for Mr. and Mrs. Alvarez and their 3 children.  Their home was destroyed by a wind shear and they are now living in a dilapidated trailer.  Missioners framed windows and doors, and completed the electrical and plumbing work on the family’s new home.
The Mission Teams also continue to maintain relationships with the homebound whom we have assisted in the past.  Missioners visited over 40 families, brought them nutritious food, and prayed with them.  It certainly wasn’t all work and no play as missioners enjoyed celebrating a wedding with a family we had helped in the past and a few birthdays, as well!
Congratulations to both of our Mission Teams!  We thank you for all of your hard work and generosity of spirit.
