Proclaiming God’s Word
God continues to use humans as instruments to convey his words of love to the world in particular through the ministry of Lector!
The objective of the Minister of the Word (lector) is not merely to be an interesting oral reader of the Bible, it is to provide effective proclamation of God’s Word in Scripture. Effective proclamation of the Scriptures depends on the quality of how the lector prepares to minister to the congregation.
Lectors select the Mass in which they would like to serve and also have the opportunity to proclaim on weekdays and Holy Days.

Upcoming Training Session
Candidates for Lectors should:
- Be at least 18 years of age
- Be registered as a member of Saint John Vianney Parish
- Have no impediment to celebrating the sacraments
- Attend the requisite training session
Training for the ministry of Lector will be offered on:
Wednesday, August 12 | 6:30 PM – 8:00 PM
Saturday, August 22 | 9:00 AM – 10:30 AM
Choose the session most convenient for you; each will take place in the church.
