It all began with a Word…and God continues to speak to us through It! Explore to better respond to His word by joining one of the SJV Studies.
The Bible Timeline takes participants on a journey through the Bible, delving deep into pivotal periods of salvation history to discover the amazing story woven throughout Scripture. Participants learn about major people, places, and events, and see how they all come together to reveal the remarkable story of our faith.
This study will be offered on Tuesday mornings, 9:45 AM – 11:45 AM, beginning September 15 in St. Jude Hall, or Wednesday evenings, 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM, beginning September 9 in the Activity Center Adult Lounge.

This study explores the life and mission of Jesus and reveals how the promises and prophecies of the Old Testament are fulfilled in Jesus, who inaugurates the Kingdom of God on earth. Participants learn how people came to realize that Jesus was the long awaited Messiah who relives the life and struggles of Israel to become the faithful and victorious King. Set in the rich context of Jesus’ Jewish culture, this study helps participants understand and appreciate Judaism as part of our heritage.

Acts: The Spread of the Kingdom reveals how Christ’s Kingdom on earth is empowered to carry on His work in the world. Acts reveals the Church, enlivened by the Holy Spirit, teaching, preaching, healing, and restoring the marginalized in the same way that Jesus did. The Book of Acts provides a historic framework for understanding the rest of the New Testament. Paul’s letters, in particular, come alive in a new way when they are read within the context of the Acts narrative.

In his first letter to the Corinthians, St. Paul addresses struggles still familiar today, including division within the community, moral confusion, and questions about living the Gospel in a culture that does not share the faith. Writing to a young Church, Paul offers practical wisdom for overcoming these challenges and growing in authentic Christian life. Guided by Dr. Tim Gray, this study explores Paul’s teachings on grace, the Church as the Body of Christ, and the central role of the Eucharist in shaping Christian community.

Romans, the Gospel of Salvation, a fascinating book that reveals that salvation is not merely the removal of a guilty verdict; it is about entering into Christ’s life, death, and resurrection, and sharing in His divine life. In Jesus, all the hopes and expectations of Israel are fulfilled, leading to the universal (Catholic) family of God. Romans will help you make sense of difficult passages regarding faith, works of the law, and justification.

The Search, a video-based series that tackles questions like these and more. In seven episodes, Chris Stefanick, from Augustine Institute, and experts from multiple fields of science, medicine, psychology, art, and religion, examine our place in the larger story of creation.

This study will focus on the second and third pillar, Liturgy & Sacraments and Life in Christ. Foundations of Faith is an immersive exploration of the Church’s teachings and takes participants to the places where faith was explained and clarified by Church Councils, the Church Doctors, and the Saints.

In this 10-week Bible Study, Dr. Mary Healy combines insightful biblical study with Church teaching and practical advice to show how modern Catholics can effectively impact teaching in the world. Dr. Healy explores topics such as the call to evangelize, the power of the Sacraments, the role of charisms for building up the Body of Christ; techniques from St. Paul for reaching a secular culture.
