James is one of the most practical books of the Bible. Like the book of Proverbs, it is a book of wisdom, a collection of teachings on issues faced by ordinary Christians in everyday life. These teachings speak loudly to all those who feel torn between the competing demands of this world and their faith. This study offers “pearls for wise living” by applying the wisdom of James to the present day. For anyone who has struggled to live a truly Christian life, James offers a wealth of practical solutions for handling and even sanctifying everyday circumstances. An 11-week Tuesday morning study will begin January 6.
This study explores the life and mission of Jesus. Matthew demonstrates how the promises and prophecies of the Old Testament are fulfilled in Jesus, who inaugurates the Kingdom of God on earth. Participants learn how people came to realize Jesus was the long-awaited Messiah who relives the life and struggles of Israel to become the faithful and victorious King. Set in the rich context of Jesus’ Jewish culture, this study helps participants understand and appreciate Judaism as part of our heritage.
This 24-week Ascension Press study will take place on Wednesday evenings beginning September 10.

This study reveals how Christ’s Kingdom on earth is empowered to carry on his work in the world. Acts reveals the Church, enlivened by the Holy Spirit, teaching, preaching, healing, and restoring the marginalized in the same way that Jesus did. The Book of Acts provides a historic framework for understanding the rest of the New Testament. Paul’s letters, in particular, come alive in a new way when they are read within the context of the Acts narrative.
This 20-week Ascension Press Study will take place on Wednesday evenings beginning September 10.
The Gospel of Luke takes you on a journey that begins with the foretelling of John the Baptist’s birth and culminates in Jesus’ ascension into heaven. The Gospel of Luke reveals how Jesus is the fulfillment of the Old Testament prophecies. With Luke: The Story of Salvation Fulfilled, you will experience joy as you see how God has been faithful throughout the ages and how God’s promise can guide us in our everyday lives.
This 8-week Ascension Press study will take place on Tuesday mornings beginning October 21.
Many people desire to read the Bible but give up because it seems so complicated. Unlocking the Mystery of the Bible presents the “big picture” by showing how fourteen narrative books of the Bible tell the story from Adam and Eve to Jesus and the Church. Aided by a unique color-coded timeline chart, which arranges key people, places, and events of Scripture in chronological order, participants will better understand why the Bible is one great love story.
This 8-week Ascension Press study will take place on Wednesday evenings beginning September 10.
The Bible and the Sacraments investigates the deeper mystery of the sacraments as illuminated by Sacred Scripture. Examining the rich relationship between the Old and New Testaments, this study reveals the Sacraments as more than mere earthly rituals. they are incredible “powers that come forth’ from the Body of Christ” (CCC 1116).
