Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion

Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion (EMs) assist with the distribution of Holy Communion in Sunday Mass.  If available, you may also choose to serve in daily Mass, on Holy Days and additional seasonal liturgies, and to take Holy Communion to the homebound and/or those in a hospital or care facility.


Upon completion of the training session you will be commissioned as an Extraordinary Minister of Communion for Saint John Vianney Parish.

Candidates for Extraordinary Minister of Communion should:

  • be at least 18 years of age
  • a registered member of Saint John Vianney parish
  • have no impediment to celebrating the sacraments
  • attend the requisite training session

Serving as an EM offers a unique opportunity to deepen your faith and grow closer to God.  By your example of reverence and dedication, it may also inspire others to active discipleship.
