Catholic Advocacy Day

More than 40 SJV parishioners joined the Texas Bishops and over 3,000 Catholics from across the state on March 24 as they rallied on the steps of the Capitol in Austin to support the Catholic Church’s values of life, justice, and charity.
The rally was part of Texas Catholic Advocacy Day, a day-long event organized by the Texas Catholic Conference to mobilize the Catholic community on a number of forthcoming bills in the 84th Legislative session. Supporters wore royal blue Catholic t-shirts.  Looking out into a sea of blue, Cardinal Daniel DiNardo commented that the crowd was “a spectacular sight.”
A team of five parishioners from SJV visited our local Representatives and Senators throughout the day advocating for the Bishops’ Legislative Agenda.  The full legislative agenda of the Texas Catholic Conference is available on the TCC website.
It’s not too late to contact your legislators to voice your support.  To find the name and contact information for your legislators, visit Who Represents Me/Texas.
