Over the last few weeks, SJV parishioners participated in 2 mission trips to Eagle Pass, Texas (on the border of Mexico). Both Mission Teams worked hard and completed home repairs for the elderly, disabled, and very poor. In addition to repairing homes, the teams visited the sick and homebound. They prayed with them and brought them nutritious food.
SJV Mission Team members were joined by missionaries from our local Catholic High Schools during our Spring Break Mission. Youth from St. Agnes, Christo Rey, Strake Jesuit, and St. Pius worked together with the SJV Mission Team and Eagle Pass families to conduct extensive home repairs. Our second SJV Mission Team finished out a number of projects. All total, 10 homes were repaired including extensive roof structure repairs to 5 houses, 8 new roofs, 4 houses painted, 4 houses sided, sheetrock installed in two houses, framing work completed on 2 houses, a new shower installed, drainage corrected, a new braker box installed, a new faucet installed, and much more!
Congratulations to both of our Mission Teams! We thank you for all of your hard work and generosity of spirit. For more information about SJV Missions, please contact Dick.
