The Gathering Place provides an opportunity for socialization, physical movement, and fun activities for individuals experiencing memory loss due to Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia. Many studies have shown the importance of mental stimulation for individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia, especially with persons in the early stages of memory loss. Remaining mentally, socially and physically active by participating in activities that engage the senses often spark memories, foster a sense of well-being and may help to prolong independence and participation in activities of daily living. We encourage you to seek out these opportunities as early as possible for optimum benefit.
St. John Vianney is one of the participating congregations that share in this ministry sponsored by CarePartners Texas. We will resume on-campus gatherings in September, 2021. If you are the caregiver of a family member and you are feeling overwhelmed, stressed and missing family and friends, CarePartners invites you to contact them at 713.682.5995 to receive additional information on how to join their programs.
