Walking with Moms in Need

How can we, like the Blessed Mother, lovingly support mothers in welcoming and caring for God’s gift of life?

Walking with Moms in Need is a nationwide, parish-based initiative to increase support for pregnant and parenting mothers in need. At our parish, we are working to ensure that any woman who finds herself unexpectedly pregnant, or parenting in difficult circumstances, can turn to Saint John Vianney Catholic Church and be connected with the resources she needs. Our volunteers have the privilege of accompanying these moms through their motherhood journey, offering them authentic Christian friendship and ongoing support.

If you are a mom in need of help, you are invited to attend one of our meetings to meet our volunteers and learn how we might be able to assist you. At these meetings, we offer:

• Valuable practical education on a variety of topics designed for mothers, punctuated by prayer and spiritual support
• Encouragement in a community of supportive moms who want to help you gain skills, wisdom, and a robust Christian faith as your anchor
• Complimentary supervision of your babies or preschoolers during our meetings, provided there is adequate space and pre-registration
• A gift for you or your child after your first meeting
• One-on-one discussions at the conclusion of the meetings to offer necessary referrals and advice
• An appointment with our Social Services team to assess further ways we may be able to help you with resources and material needs

These meetings currently take place on  the first and third Tuesday of the month at 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM. SJV Parishioner Volunteer Opportunities

If you are a SJV Parishioner who would like to help these mothers in a supportive, hands-on role by providing advice or education, being a friend and/or mentor, or helping connect these moms with appropriate resources, please contact us at ssvolcoordinator@stjohnvianney.org. Please let us know of your specific interests, and our WWMIN coordinator will reach out to you within a few days of receiving your email.

• Class Lead – share your knowledge on a topic
• WWMIN Advocate – offer a personal connection
• Meeting Support – provide supervision to the babies and toddlers of the moms during meetings
• Prayer Partner – pray for the families; receive a monthly newsletter.
